Climate on the Balance Sheet
Dear colleague,
We are a collection of climate entrepreneurs, academics, and corporate leaders working on a new framework for accounting for climate. We are excited to invite you to the inaugural Climate Liabilities and Assets Initiative.
A transformative concept has emerged to bend the emissions curve effectively. It promises to be a more rigorous, transparent, and effective system for managing and communicating an organization’s environmental impact. It is a concept of liabilities and assets. The liabilities reflect an organization’s environmental responsibility, and the assets are an organization’s positive, financed environmental solutions, which are to be recorded on the balance sheet. Different flavors of this concept have emerged in the market.
The Climate Liabilities and Assets Initiative aims to coalesce diverse perspectives from academia, industry, and regulatory bodies to develop a consensus on this emerging approach.
We kicked off the initiative with an event during London Climate Action week 2025.
Your insight and thought leadership will greatly enrich the conversation. We hope you will consider being part of this groundbreaking initiative dedicated to fostering dialogue on bringing Climate to the balance sheet.
